Praying for Spain!

I hope you are enjoying your summer! It’s been a fun-filled,busy summer for me so far, and there are still many exciting events yet to come.
One of the highlights thus far was seeing my fellow teammates serving in Spain, Tim & Paula Tjernagel. They came to Gibbsville Reformed Church for a few days, and we were able to share breakfast together on one of them. It was encouraging to be with them as they relieved a lot of pressure I was putting on myself to work hard on partnership development. I feel much more free now to enjoy the process and allow partnership development to ebb and flow in God's hands.

It was also encouraging to be with them because they reminded me about the great need in Spain with stories and statistics.
For instance, they are serving in Cáceres, a city of 100,000 people. In that city there are only 2 evangelical churches and only about 80 evangelical believers. Can you imagine doubling the city of Sheboygan or LaCrosse and only having 2 churches and 80 believers?!

Religion Today states that, “Spain has 47 million people, and while most Spaniards were baptized in the Roman Catholic Church, less than 10 percent of the population attend church on a regular basis. The evangelical church is even smaller — less than 1 percent of the population, by most estimates.”

Check out this prayer video for Spain!

Clearly, there is a great need for the gospel in Spain! God has called you and I to take part in bringing the the good news of Jesus Christ to the Spanish people. Thank you for taking part in this work! It is an honor and privilege to be serving with you, and I thank God for you. Let’s keep praying and believing for greater faith in Spain!

With love and prayers,
Kelsey

Partnering with you AND your church

Dave Wensink, a member of Gibbsville Reformed Church, was Tim Tjernagel’s roommate in college. 6 years ago, Dave asked Gibbsville’s Mission Committee to consider partnering in ministry with Tim & Paula. Because of Dave’s request, the Mission Committee decided to interview Tim & Paula. After the interview, Gibbsville decided to partner with and support the Tjernagels in Spain.

Through this partnership, Gibbsville has been able to do ministry in Spain in various ways. They pray, give, love, encourage, support, and more hands-on have done a week-long Basketball and English Camp in Spain with the Tjernagels and are sending one of their own (me!) to do full-time ministry in Spain!

All this has happened because God led Dave to connect the Tjernagel’s ministry in Spain with Gibbsville Reformed Church, and the ripple effects are endless.

Could God use you in this way?

Would you be willing to connect the ministry in Spain and me with your home church? Might your church be interested in doing a Basketball & English Camp in Spain? Might they want to send youth on a World Team Spain internship next summer?

Please prayerfully consider asking your church to consider a partnership with World Team Spain. I’d love to talk with you and your church more about partnering together. Please contact me if you’d like to do that!
